JOHN LEE DRAKE, JR.

December 26, 1922 — March 7, 2005

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. John Lee Drake, Jr. , age 82, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Monday, March 7, 2005, at Wesley Manor in Dothan, Al. Funeral services for Mr. Drake will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville with Dr. Randy Mickler and Rev. Kirk Loyless officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, March 8, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Drake was born in Seminole County on Dec. 26, 1922 to the late John Lee, Sr. and Nellie Saunders Drake. He graduated from Seminole County High School in 1940 and attended the University of Georgia and the Georgia Military College. He married the former Mildred Ashley on Dec. 3, 1946. Mr. Drake had been engaged in farming and was a realtor. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, a member of the Webb Bible Class and the Friendship United Methodist Men. He was also a member of the Seminole County Farm Bureau. Mr. Drake leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Mildred Ashley Drake of Donalsonville, GA; three daughters, Cissy Harrison and her husband Glynn of Watkinsville, GA, Diane Mickler and her husband Dr. Randy Mickler of Marietta, GA, Kathy Griffin and her husband Kerry of Carrollton, GA; two brothers, Wallace Drake and his wife Joanne and Billy Gene Drake and his wife Marie both of Donalsonville, GA; and one sister, Doris Owen of Donalsonville, GA. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Rob Mickler and his wife Susan, Ashley Purcell and her husband Lee, Amy Boyd and her husband Joe, Alan Harrison, Lauren Griffin, Scott Griffin, and Kelli Griffin; as well as 2 great grandsons, Josh Boyd and Drew Mickler. Active Pallbearers will be Joe Drake, John Drake, Greg Drake, Jimmy Drake, Gene Drake, Jack Owen, Dr. Claude Ashley, and Buck Parks. Members of the Webb Bible Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice 432 East Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39817.
