NIZA BROOKINS

We regret to announce the passing of Niza Brookins, age 89, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Oakview Church of God with Rev. Milton Pate and Rev. Mylan Brookins officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakview Church of God Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mrs. Brookins was born in Early County, GA on December 31, 1915 to the late Thomas Henry and Susie Knight Newberry. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Herman Brookins, Sr. in 1959. She was a seamstress and worked at the local cleaners for many years. She loved working in her yards, was a joy to be around and loved her family and friends. She was a member of Oakview Church of God, Oakview Prime Timers, Oakview Women of Grace and Jubilees. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Chris Brookins and his wife Wanda, Herman Brookins, Jr. and his wife Nina both of Donalsonville, GA; two daughters, Amelia Whittaker and her husband Manus of Donalsonville, GA ; Helen Dick and her husband John of Brinson, GA; one brother Eugene E. Newberry of Boise, ID; one sister Myrtle Smith of Donalsonville, GA; special niece Jackie Skeen and special nephew Don Skeen and his wife JoAnn all of Donalsonville, GA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Active pallbearers will be Greg Whittaker, Howard Whittaker, Dave Whittaker, Brian Brookins, Scott Brookins, Bob Brookins, Dean Brookins and Jimmy Cannon Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 432 East Shotwell St., Bainbridge, GA 39817. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
