REV. CHARLES BARINEAU

Pastor Charles Edmund Barineau, age 74, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Friday morning, August 8, 2014 at the Donalsonville Hospital Emergency Room. Funeral services for Pastor Barineau will be held on Monday morning, August 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM at New Hope Worship Assembly in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. J.B. Todd, Pastor Tony Buczek, and Pastor Tim Bell officiating. Interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee, Florida. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, August 10, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 PM at New Hope Worship Assembly. Pastor Charles as he was affectionately referred to by church members and friends in the community, was born on July 1, 1940 in Tallahassee, FL to Loren Barineau and Mary Allen Barineau. He was the Sr. Pastor of New Hope Worship Assembly in Donalsonville, GA and held many positions in the community. Pastor Charles was a member of the Donalsonville Lion’s Club; the City Council, serving as Mayor Protem; and on the Emmanuel College Advisory Board. He was also the Parent Skills Training Coordinator for the Family PRIDE Parenting Program at Southwest Georgia Community Action Council. Pastor Barineau was a past receipient of the Earl Jones Award from the Georgia Municipal Association and had received a Certificate of Excellence from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute for Elected Officials. Pastor Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife and partner in ministry Kathleen Barineau of Donalsonville, GA; his son, Greg Barineau and wife Kricket of Ellaville, GA; his daughters, Jana Sevrin and husband Kevin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Debbi Prior and husband Charles of Donalsonville, GA, Denise Lambert and husband Lee of Donalsonville, GA, Dana Jones of Clearwater, FL, and Darci King and husband Shawn of Americus, GA. He is also survived by two sisters, Edna Merle Pace and husband Raymond and Faye Hooks and husband Clarence all of Tallahassee, FL; as well as a sister-in-law, Barbara Barineau of Tallahassee, FL and a brother-in-law, Robert Wetter and his wife Linda of South Hampton, New York. Pastor Charles was also the loving and devoted grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest Barineau, Guyton Barineau, Kenneth Barineau, L.C. Barineau, and James Barineau; as well as sisters, Loraine Sholar, Mary Frances Cash, and Juanita Ellis. Active casketbearers will be his grandsons, Thomas Clint McPherson, Zachary Nathaniel Mendelson, Clyde Daniel Christian, Jovi Lee Lambert, Chance Neil King, Lane Christian King, and Lorne Thomas Barineau. Honorary casketbearers will be Scott Smith, Lyn Smith, and Tracey Hodges. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Charles Barineau Memorial Scholarship Fund for Students of Emmanuel College c/o Commercial State Bank PO Box 217 Donalsonville, GA 39845.
