February 3, 1952 — February 11, 2015

Wendell Hubert Cox, age 63, of Colquitt, GA passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 11, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Cox will be held on Saturday morning, Feb. 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at New Home Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Danny Helms, John Weaver, Gene Burke, Pat King, Steve Middleton, and Eddie Roberts serving as active casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers will be members of the Miller County High School Class of 1970. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, Feb. 13, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the church. Mr. Cox was born in Donalsonville, GA on Feb. 3, 1952 to Hubert Cox and Geneva Ard Cox. He attended Miller County High School, where he was a star football player, and graduated in 1970. He was an active member of New Home Freewill Baptist Church, was a member of the Board of Trustees for the church, and served as the Moderator for the Martin Association. Wendell owned and operated his own building company. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Darleen Thompson Cox of Colquitt, GA; a daughter, Cassie Cox of Colquitt, GA; a son, Corey Cox of Colquitt, GA; and four sisters, Wanda Raker of Colquitt, GA, Melba Cox of Tallahassee, FL, Scarlett Dozier and her husband Wes of Iron City, GA, and Lora Signs and her husband Mike of Tallahassee, FL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Cox and Geneva Ard Cox. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to New Home Freewill Baptist Church 80 Lane Road Colquitt, GA 39837.
