WILLIAM AMBROSE MARTIN

Mr. William A. "Bill" Martin, age 89, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Friday evening, July 29, 2016 at Chipola Health and Rehab Center in Marianna, FL. Graveside services for Mr. Martin will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Blakely City Cemetery in Blakely, GA with Rev. David Pace officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International or Lake Seminole Baptist Church. Mr. Martin was born in Hilton, GA on August 22, 1926 to Fredrick E. Martin and Rosa Mae Shepard Martin. He served his country in the United States Army and was a dedicated member of Gideons International and a member of First Baptist Church Marianna, having attended Lake Seminole Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Donalsonville while living in the area.Mr. Martin was a school teacher for a number of years. He leaves to cherish his memory two step-sons, Harry Edward Williams and wife Cheri of Ephrata, Washington and Leslie Watson Williams and wife Lisa of Dickinson, Texas; one brother, Allen Byrd Martin of Donalsonville, GA; and one sister, Evelyn McCormick of Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Martin is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick E. Martin and Rosa Mae Shepard Martin; a brother, Elmer R. Martin; and two sisters, Elizabeth Truett and Lorena Martin.
