Weldon Snipes Lunsford, age 88, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 15, 2017 at Great Gran’s Personal Care Home in Donalsonville, GA. Funeral services for Mrs. Lunsford will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Michael Wingertsahn and Rev. Dean M. Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Del Walden, Gary Snipes, Larry Bryan, Carl Lunsford, Steve Lunsford, and Landon Holcomb serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Lunsford was born in Meigs, GA on Sept. 26, 1928 to Harry Guy Snipes and Minerva Pollock Snipes. She worked for a number of years as a LPN. Mrs. Lunsford was an active member of the Pelham First Baptist Church choir while living there and then became an active member of the choir at First Baptist Church Donalsonville when her family moved to the area. While living in Pelham and being active in the church there, she and her husband, Cecil Lunsford, were very active workers in the youth program of First Baptist Pelham. Mrs. Lunsford was a member of First Baptist Church Donalsonville. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Joseph Harold Lunsford of Birmingham, AL and James Patrick Lunsford and his wife Rita of Cumming, GA; six grandchildren, Tiffany Marie Davidson, James Patrick Lunsford, Jr. (Rachel), Joanna Claire Sammander (Shafaa), Kelly Michelle Phillips, Hayley Rebecca Lunsford and Julien Phillip Lunsford. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, Audrey Grace Phillips, Taylor Ann Marie Wasmer, Joseph Landon Holcomb, Julian Phillips DeCastillo, Hannah Cecilia Lunsford, Adam Weldon Sammander, Lily Rae Lunsford, Alexander Dodunsky, Eli Dean Sammander, Eva Marie Davidson, and Nathan Scribner Lunsford. Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Guy Snipes and Minerva Pollock Snipes; her husband, Cecil Lunsford; her siblings, Grover Cleveland Snipes, Della Mae Snipes Walden, Harry Clements Snipes, Adel P. Snipes, and Edward Snipes.
