ANDERSON LAMAR HILL

Anderson Lamar Hill, known to his family as “Pawpaw” and also “The Kid”, 89, of Jacksonville was welcomed into Heaven on July 11, 2017 at Community Hospice McGraw Center at Mayo. Lamar was born on July 9, 1928 in Miller County, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Audrey Moss Hill and his brother, Wallace Hill. Lamar was a District Manager with the Gulf Life Insurance Company in Jacksonville for many years and then President of Airko Freight Systems for over 40 years. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. As the patriarch of the family, he will be remembered for his sense of humor and the wonderful stories he told. He was a great influence on many people, not only his family, but others as well. His faith and the value of integrity were very important to him and he shared these with his family and others. He enjoyed spending time with his family on their annual vacations at the beach and the lake. He also liked listening to country music. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally. He will always be remembered for his sound advice and wisdom. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mae Hill, his sisters Carolyn Hill (Stan) Smith of Western Grove, AR and Linda (Hill) Rice of Crystal River, FL and children – Rodney (Kay) Hill of Fayetteville, GA, Kathy Stange–Edwards (Dan) of St. Petersburg, FL, David (Susan) Hill of Jacksonville, FL, Paul (Bonnie) Hill of Jacksonville, FL, Becky (Mike) Palmer of Panama City, FL and Patty (Jack) Wilcox of Jacksonville, FL, 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32211 on Thursday evening, July 13th from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Service to follow at the Donalsonville Church of God, 5060 Highway 91 North, Donalsonville, GA 39845 on Saturday, July 15th at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Donalsonville Church of God. Burial immediately following at Oakview Church of God Cemetery (3595 Oakview Church Post Road, Donalsonville, GA 39845). Officiants are Reverend Randy Wilson of Faith Family Fellowship of Jacksonville and Reverend Phillip Kirkland of Donalsonville Church of God. Pallbearers (grandsons-in-law): Josh Cartey, Victor Davidson, Chad Dunham, Nate Ferguson, Jeremy Siegel and Tommy Winterman. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Community Hospice McGraw Center for their caring support.
