JACK C. WILLIAMS, SR.

November 30, 1923 — September 7, 2017

Jack Carlton Williams of Donalsonville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at his home. The son of Samuel Aristides and Abbie Mae Baker Williams, Mr. Williams was born in Early County, Georgia, on November 30, 1923. A long time residence of Donalsonville, Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 69 years, JoAnn Ward Williams. Mr. Williams is also survived by his children, Dianne Williams Houston and her husband Jerry of Jakin, Georgia, and Jack C. Williams, Jr. and his wife Donna of Donalsonville. Mr. Williams is also survived by grandson, Myles Mosely and his wife Adriel of Jakin and grandson, Jack Lane Williams of Donalsonville. Anna Myles Mosely, daughter of Myles and Adriel Mosely is his surviving great granddaughter. In his professional life, Mr. Williams was the owner and operator of City Dry Cleaners of Donalsonville. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Williams fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne, Belguim. Mr. Williams was a civic leader supporting the Boy Scouts, Donalsonville-Seminole Chamber of Commerce, the Seminole County Election Board, and American Legion Post 157, as well as helping to organize and promote the initial Seminole County Rescue Squad. Mr. Williams was also a retired director for the Donalsonville First Federal. A personable, gregarious person, Mr. Williams was a well known, respected and admired person in the community. Mr. Williams was quick of wit and always seeking ways to help others. Mr. Williams was an active member of the Donalsonville First Baptist Church, and cherished his time studying in its Whit Aiken Sunday School Class. Preceding him in death were his parents, his siblings, S.A, Williams, Jr., Inez Williams Loyless, Nell Williams Hall, Wynette Williams Smith, Ed Williams, Kenneth Williams and Lois Ann Williams Carter, as well as infant sister Lucille Williams. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Rev. Michael Wingertsahn and Rev. Mark Payne officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
