ALFRED JOEL "ALF" GREENE

June 23, 1928 — March 28, 2021

Alfred Joel “Alf” Greene, age 92, of Iron City, GA passed away Sunday afternoon, March 28, 2021 at Donalsonville Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Greene will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Donalsonville with Dr. Raymond Guterman officiating. Interment will follow in Oak City Cemetery with his nephews, Ronnie Ingram, Alan Ingram, Wade Ingram, Lyle Seigler, Joel Greene, Lane Greene, Robert Ingram, Ashley Ingram, Brad Ingram, Luke Royal, Matt Royal, Dell Royal, James Dorrell, and John Dorrell serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at the church. Mr. Greene was born to Earnest Joel Greene and Eleanor Lane Greene on June 23, 1928 in Iron City, GA in the house that he and Mrs. Geanette still lived in at the time of his death. He graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He served his country in the United States Army and went on to become an accomplished business owner. He was the owner of Alf’s Farm and Garden, Alf Greene Farms, and Greene Poultry Company-the oldest family owned business in Seminole County having been in operation for 93 years. Mr. Alf owned the first semi-truck in Seminole County and was a charter member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Boat Club, and the Iron City Lions Club. He was a former member of the Donalsonville Lions Club, former Mayor of Iron City, and had been an active member of the “Zoo Crew”. Mr. Greene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Donalsonville. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Geanette Greene of Iron City, GA; his sister, Barbara G. Sawyer of San Antonio, TX; his sister-in-law, Bobbie Greene of Brinson, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest Joel Greene and Eleanor Lane Greene; three sisters, Leonora Ingram, Anne Dorrell, and Helen Andress; and his brother, Jim Greene. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
