ALICE WHATLEY WOMBLE

Alice Whatley Womble, age 88, of Jakin, GA passed away Monday morning, October 12, 2026, at her residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Womble will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Odom and Rev. Masun Womble officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Brent Womble, Todd Womble, Josh Bradley, Kevin Futch, Barry Rogers, Matthew Womble, Hunter Womble, Caleb Temples, and William Womble serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class of Springfield Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at the church.

Mrs. Womble was born in Colquitt, GA on November 1, 1937, to Mitchell Whatley and Margaret Dykes Whatley. She was a homemaker, always helping and being an inspiration to others. Mrs. Alice had an unwavering love for her family, always helping in any way that she could, right down to pulling peanut trailers to the peanut mill. Her faith was undeniable, and she was very active in her church and loved her church family like they were her own. She loved baking pound cakes and she used that as a part of her ministry, as well as carrying people to doctor’s appointments, but she was most noted as a prayer warrior to so many. She has touched the lives of so many people in our area that she never realized. She was greatly loved and will be even more greatly missed by so very many in the community.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Joe Womble (Gloria), Brenda Bradley (Rusty), Bobby Womble (Debbie), Margaret Ann Futch (Tracy), Randy Womble (Debra), David Womble (Tosha), and Charles Womble (Dawn); as well as her grandchildren, Todd Womble (Jan), Brent Womble (Katie), Allison Poitevint (Johnny), Josh Bradley (Brittany), Carolyn Bradley, Mitchell Womble (Whitney), Bobby Joe Womble, Kevin Futch (Elizabeth), Haley Futch, Barry Rogers (Sheryl), Byron Rogers, Beth Temples (Caleb), Matthew Womble (Amanda), Hunter Womble (Katina), William Womble, and Bailee Ann Odom (Jay). Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Masun Womble, Caleb Womble, Jaye Beth Womble, Jude Womble, Bradley Nichols, Audrey Nichols, Charlotte Bradley, James Bradley, Adeline Womble, Raelyn Futch, Nolan Futch, Colin Rogers, Jarrod Rogers, Grayson Temples, Harper Temples, James David Womble, Chase Womble, Lance Womble, Linken Womble, and Stetson Odom; her great great grandchildren, Hazel Womble and Malachi Womble; as well as her brother, Danny Wayne Whatley. A special friend and sister-in-law, Inez Womble; special friends, Stephanie Johnson and Shirley Smallwood; as well as numerous nephews and nieces also survive.

Mrs. Womble was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Margaret Dykes Whatley; her husband, Horace Womble; and her siblings, Alberta Wilhoft, Thomas Whatley, Charles Whatley, and Jeanette Farmer.
