AUDREY ALDAY EARNEST

August 23, 1933 — February 19, 2023

DONALSONVILLE

Mrs. Laura Audrey Alday Earnest, age 89, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 19, 2023 at her residence.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Earnest will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Salem-Seminole Baptist Church with Rev. David Roland and Rev. Laddie DeRocco officiating.  Interment will be held in the church cemetery with Randall Earnest, Cameron Glass, Jordan Newberry, Jackson Newberry, Dee Broome, and William Alday serving as active pallbearers.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Salem-Seminole Baptist Church c/o Susie Croom 6584 Hwy 374 Donalsonville, GA 39845  or to the Alzheimer’s Association PO Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.  

 

Mrs. Earnest was born in Colquitt, GA on August 23, 1933 to Noah Phillips and Alice Faircloth Phillips.  After high school, she attended nursing school and earned her license as a LPN.  Mrs. Earnest retired from Donalsonville Hospital, where she worked as a nurse for many years. She was a faithful member of Salem-Seminole Baptist Church.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, J.C. Earnest; her children, Bill Alday, Dr. Michael Alday(Deborah), and Stephen R. Alday (Stephen King); her grandchildren, William Alday, Heather Alday-Byll, Ryan Alday, Janna Alday, Cali Alday, Erin Alday, Macy Alday, Jacqueline Alday, and Allison Harmon; 6 great grandchildren; and her brother, Lamar Phillips (Loretta).  Also surviving are her step-children, Randy Earnest (Jill), Lisa Newberry, and Vicki Mercer (Bill); 6 step-grandchildren, Randall Earnest, Erica Broome, Cameron Glass, Jordan Newberry, Jackson Newberry, and Caden Mercer; 7 step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Shelly Smith.

 

Mrs. Earnest was preceded in death by her parents, Noah Phillips and Alice Faircloth Phillips; her first husband, Ralph Alday; her sisters, Ruth Rathel, Geneva Croom, Louise Phillips, and Joyce Sartain; and her brother, Earl Phillips.
