Byron Lamar Cobb, 83, of Donalsonville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2026, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville. Always happy to share a few jars of his homemade pickles or a freshly baked pecan bread, he will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 3 PM on April 10th in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with a short service starting at 3 PM. Interment will immediately follow the service at Friendship Cemetery with Mike Dupree, Justin Long, David Jarvis, Richard Bishop, Paul Roberts, and Greg Whittaker serving as active pallbearers. All family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Animal Rescue Alliance of Donalsonville or Seminole County 4H, a passion of Lamar and his granddaughter Vera Lynn.
Lamar was born November 13th, 1942, in Donalsonville, Georgia to Byron Carson and Mildred Croom Cobb of Donalsonville. Born into farming, he lived his entire life in and around Donalsonville. Lamar graduated from Seminole County High School and briefly attended college before being needed back on the farm. Agriculture was in his blood and he spent most of his life in the pursuit of producing crops, raising livestock, growing plants of all sorts, and enjoying the fruits of these labors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and continued even until his last years to get his limit (and maybe a little more) on trips down to Lake Seminole. He loved few things more than having a fish fry with friends and family. Of all things in life, Lamar took the greatest pride and pleasure in his children and grandchildren.
Lamar was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joan, as well as 2 sisters, Anne and Bobbie Jean and a brother, Harry. Additionally, over the years he mourned the passing of beloved and devoted animal companions Mick, Ming, and Smut. He is survived by his 3 children, Jimmy Cobb (Shari) of Bogart, Georgia, Kelly Earnest (Mark) of Donalsonville, Georgia, and Byron Cobb (Dorann) of Colquitt, Georgia; as well as 6 grandchildren, Luke Cobb, Melissa Cobb, Anna Cobb, Emily Earnest, Vera Lynn Cobb, and Hanna Jane Cobb.
