Carey Glynn Moye, age 60, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Oakview Church of God with Rev. Gary Walker, Rev. Mitch Griffin, Rev. Johnny Taylor, and Rev. Herman Enfinger officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Jeffery Swanner, Lee Owens, Luke Lawson, Jimmy Jackson, Lonnie Wade, Dale Swanner, Carl Scott, and Billy Shingler.  Cecil Croom, Jimbo Grow, and members of Miller, Seminole, Decatur, and Early County Law Enforcement Agencies will serve as honorary pallbearers.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:45 PM at the church. Mr. Moye was born in Donalsonville, GA on July 13, 1958 to Glynn Moye and Joye Faircloth McLaughlin. He worked as a law enforcement officer for over 30 years, and faithfully served the people of Decatur, Miller, Seminole and Early Counties throughout the span of his career. Carey was an active member of Oakview Church of God and served as the head of security for the congregation. He was an avid sports fan and could often be found cheering or constructively criticizing his beloved Bulldogs, Braves and Falcons from the comfort of his favorite chair. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his six grandchildren, whom he referred to as “Pops Pals”. Carey will be remembered best for his legendary sense of humor and his compassionate nature. Though his personality and stature were larger than life, he was accurately described by many as a “big teddy bear”. He could always be counted on to share a smile or a laugh with others, and he made it a point to treat everyone he met with kindness and respect. Mr. Moye is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jane Moye of Donalsonville, GA; his daughters, Kristy Moye Griffin (Hugh) of Eagle River, AK, Kacie Moye Ogletree (Robert), and Kyla Moye Smith (Gage), all of Colquitt, GA; his grandchildren, Tyler Glynn Griffin, Landon Trace Ogletree, Anna Jane Griffin, Shelby Joye Ogletree, Stephen Lucus Ogletree, and Carey Connor Smith; his brothers, John Moye (Donna), Joe Moye (Mitzy) of Donalsonville, GA, Jeffery Harris of Ft. Gains, GA, and Van Windham (Joy) of Dothan, AL; his sister Lisa McLaughlin of Donalsonville, GA, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Carey was preceded in death by his parents, Glynn and Roberta (Robbie) Moye and Joye Faircloth McLaughlin; his brother, Frank Huggins, and his nephew, Jeremy Huggins. Arrangements entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
