Charles Thomas "Chuck" Gibson

Mr. Charles Thomas "Chuck" Gibson, age 76, of Jakin, GA passed away Monday evening, May 22, 2023, at his residence with his family by his side.


Funeral services for Mr. Gibson will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM at The First Church of The Nazarene in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Scott Messer officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery with Gene Horne, Donny Alday, Buddy Whittaker, Steve Jernigan, Joe Garcia, and Mark Turner serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, May 24, 2023, in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.


Mr. Gibson was born in Port St. Joe, FL on December 27, 1946, to James Wilmoth Gibson, Sr. and Addie Dunning Gibson.  Before his retirement, he worked for 40 years as an electrician at Farley Nuclear Plant.  Mr. Gibson enjoyed fishing, and operating his bulldozier was not work but an enjoyment to him. Raising Purebred Charolais cattle was just one of many things on his list of accomplishments.  Most importantly, Mr. Gibson was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family deeply.  He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.


He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary John Gibson of Jakin, GA; his children, Chad Gibson and Lisa Murphree and her husband, Ken all of Jakin, GA; his brother, James Wilmoth Gibson, Jr. and his wife Wanda of Pensacola, FL; as well as his grandchildren, Payne Murphree and Addie Murphree of Jakin, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.


Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his parents, James Wilmoth Gibson, Sr. and Addie Dunning Gibson.
