Chris Brookins

Mr. Chris Brookins, age 83, of Donalsonville, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 in Cartersville, Georgia. Graveside services will be held at Oakview Church of God, Donalsonville, Ga. April 2 at 2 PM. Masks are encouraged. Mr. Brookins was born in Henry County, Alabama in 1938. He was a retired US Postal Service employee and a former owner of Burger Chef and Baskin-Robbins franchises. He also worked at Donalsonville Country Club for many years. Hobbies included genealogy and golfing. He was well known for his quick wit, keen sense of humor, and his great love for dogs. He leaves behind to treasure his memory, Barbara Lee Brookins, brother Herman L. Brookins Jr., former wife Vivien Brookins, son Christopher “Dean” Brookins and daughters Tracy Cay Brookins and Julie Michelle Brookins, stepdaughters Suzanne Hammitt, Leigh Stanford and Sabrina Dutch, grandchildren Rhea, Chaylen, and Cullen Brookins, 3 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Niza Brookins, sisters Amelia Whittaker and Helen Dick, wife Wanda Brookins and grandson Philip Tapley Earhart. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Seminole County High School Class of 1957. The family asks any donations made in Chris’ name go towards a local animal shelter.
