DONALSONVILLE

David Philip "Phil" Hodges, Sr., age 77, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Hodges will be Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Donalsonville Church of God with Rev. Phillip Kirkland, Rev. Joe Tatum, and Rev. James Scarborough officiating.  Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery with Michael Albritton, Mike Adams, Jason Long, Mitchel Sheffield, Shane Collins, and Drew Thompson serving as active pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Donalsonville Church of God Men's Fellowship Group and Employees of Nucor Tubular Products.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the church.

 

Mr. Hodges was born in Kissimmee, FL on October 12, 1946, to William Herbert Hodges and Dorothy Phillips Hodges.  He was a high school graduate and served his country in the United States Army, obtaining the rank of Buck Sgt., during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Hodges worked as an industrial electrician for Maverick Steel for 30 years before retiring.  He was very much involved in Scouting and served as Cubmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster for approximately 16 years.  For a number of years, Mr. Hodges made specialty writing pens and all kinds of woodturning projects and traveled all over to craft shows. Ministry was an important part of Mr. Hodges life, having served as the Youth Pastor at Colquitt Assembly of God and serving as pastor at West Bainbridge Assembly of God and Bethlehem Assembly of God in Gordon, AL. He was an active member of Donalsonville Church of God.

 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 ½ years, Linda Jones Hodges of Donalsonville, GA; his children, Kristi Albritton and husband Wilton of Donalsonville, GA and David Hodges and wife Dana of Murrayville, GA; and his grandchildren, Christian Albritton, Mattie Grace Hodges, Mary Beth Hodges, Lydia Albritton, and Liam Carey.  Also surviving are his sisters, Elaine Maye of Donalsonville, GA, Delores Kirkland of Colquitt, GA, Cammy Morries and husband Jesse of Kentucky, and Sheila Cassidy of Charlotte, NC, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

 

Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his parents, William Herbert Hodges and Dorothy Phillips Hodges.
