DEBORAH ANNE "DEDE" FRANKLIN

January 8, 1959 — November 2, 2021

Deborah Anne Franklin, known by everyone as Dede, passed away November 2, 2021 at her residence. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021 at 6:00 PM at the Evans-Skipper Funeral Home Chapel with Wes Baldwin officiating. The family will accept visitors beginning at 5:00 PM prior to the service. Ms. Franklin was born to the late Cecil Earl Franklin, Jr. and Jan Brigham Franklin on January 8, 1959. She was a Registered Nurse who devoted her 30 year career to caring for the elderly through her work in assisted living facilities across the southeast. She served as an advocate for the elderly and influenced legislation that improved the quality of life standards all assisted living facilities must provide. She spent her time after retirement with her family and creating various pieces through her love of crocheting. Ms. Franklin will be remembered by those that knew her for her fierce loyalty and love for her family and friends. Ms. Franklin is survived by her two sons, Leighton Brookins and Franklin Lanier (Lane) Caldwell; her daughter-in-law, Colin Brookins; her “second” mother Gloria Franklin; aunt Kathy Brigham Reese and her sons Yancey and Jeston Cowen; sister-in-law, Donna Griffin; nephews, Cecil Earl IV (Chip) and Spencer Franklin and friend Katherine Hornsby. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Franklin, Jr. and Jan Brigham Franklin; brother, Cecil Earl (Trey) Franklin; sister, Kay Harting; granddaughter, Juniper Katherine Caldwell; maternal grandparents, Bill and Addie Brigham; paternal grandparents Cecil, Sr. and Kathryn Franklin.
