Diane Key Smith

November 15, 1952 — December 8, 2023

Fair Play, South Carolina

The world was dimmed by the loss of a cherished mother, Diane (Dee) Key Smith, on December 8, 2023.  She passed away at her home in Fair Play, South Carolina.  Diane came into this world on November 15, 1952, the daughter of Carlton and Jeanette Key, in Donalsonville, GA.

Winvite you to honor and celebrate Dianes life on March 16, 2024, at 2:00 PM, as we gather at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA. Rev. Bryan Geter will be leading the service.

Throughout her journey, Diane found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in her family, friends, animals, flowers, and the compassionate vocation of nursing.  Her dedication to healing and caregiving led her to attain a Master of Science in Nursing from Troy State University on June 13, 1998.  For over forty years, Diane served tirelessly as a nurse, touching countless lives with her loving kindness, until her well-deserved retirement in 2018.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by her children, Angela Humphrey, Michael Smith, and Samantha Rose Smith, as well as her sons-in-law, Neil Humphrey and Mark Nall.  Diane was the grandmother of nine grandchildren, Sydney, Bella, Trevor, Amelia, Erin, Amber, Leola, Kyle, and Bryce; and a great grandmother of five.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Jeanette Key; her beloved husband, Alva Ray Smith; her brother, Johnny Key; her daughter, Tammy Nall; and her daughter-in-law, Dianne Smith.

Though she may have departed from our midst, Dianes spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.  She will be deeply missed by all.

May her soul find eternal peace.
