Durwood Virgil Morris

Mr. Durwood Virgil Morris, age 72, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Morris will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church in Iron City, GA with Rev. Hubert Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with the Georgia State Patrol serving as casketbearers.  Honorary casketbearers will be Georgia State Patrol Personnel. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International PO Box 97251 Washington, DC 20090-7251.  Mr. Morris was born in Donalsonville, GA on February 7, 1947 to Houston and Mavis North Morris.  He was a sewing machine mechanic for USL for 30 years and then worked 12 years as a radio operator for the Georgia State Patrol.  Mr. Morris was a member of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church in Iron City, GA. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Phyllis Whitaker Morris of Donalsonville, GA; his daughter, Amy Long and her husband Kevin of Donalsonville, GA; his grandson, Jacob Brown of Bainbridge, GA and his granddaughter, Ansley Long of Donalsonville, GA.    Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Mavis North Morris; a daughter, Jennifer Brown and his son-in-law, Wayne Brown.
