Eddie Rufus Lynn, age 89, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Lynn will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral with Rev. Jason Wood officiating and services concluding in the chapel.  Interment will be at Hebrew Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Russell Chance, Dustin Chance, Brandon Reese, John Lynn, D.J. Lynn, and Ray Boy Williams serving as active pallbearers.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hebrew Freewill Baptist Church 6776 Hebrew Road, Donalsonville, GA 39845 or Georgia Hospice Care.

 

Mr. Lynn was born in Donalsonville, GA on July 11, 1934, to Rufus and Bessie Enfinger Lynn.  He farmed for 69 years with his wife of 71 years and 4 children by his side. He raised hogs and was one of the oldest dryland farmers left in Seminole County.  He farmed from 1952 until December 2022, when he had to give it up because of health issues.

 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 71 years, Nellie McCalvin Lynn; two daughters, Brenda Chance of Donalsonville, GA and Helen Elrod and husband Brian of Columbus, GA; two sons, Dale and Jerry Lynn of Donalsonville, GA; and a sister, Pauline Sheffield of Atlanta, GA.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda Reese, Russell Chance, John Lynn, D.J. Lynn, Victoria Elrod, and Michael Elrod; his great grandchildren, Dustin Chance, Brandon Reese, Jessica Norton, Marie Richardson, Johnnie Merritt, Nichole Toliver, Bailee Lynn, Aubrey Lynn, and Avery Lynn; as well as his great great grandchildren, Chance Richardson, Bryon Reese, Reese Norton, Daniel Norton, and Robert Norton.

 

Mr. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Bessie Enfinger Lynn; his sisters, Bertha Cabrera, Kidy Barber, Dorothy Watson; and his brothers, Edward Lynn, Allen Lynn, Billy Lynn, and Jimmy Lynn.
