Eugene Hornsby, age 89, of Iron City, GA passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL. Funeral services for Mr. Hornsby will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Iron City Baptist Church at 10:00 AM with Rev. David Williams and Dr. Johnny Roberts officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA with Judson Hornsby, Will Hornsby, Cale Cloud, Logan Hornsby, Seth Cloud, Kyle Horne, Don Lane, and Todd Massey serving as active casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 157 in Donalsonville. Mr. Hornsby was born in Colquitt, GA on June 14, 1930 to Clarence and Mildred Sanders Hornsby. Mr. Hornsby served in the United States Air Force and worked as a farmer. He was a member of the Iron City Baptist Church, American Legion Post 157 and the Quick & Handy Breakfast Club. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Vann Hornsby and wife Patsy and Bill Hornsby; his daughter, Natalie Horne and husband Tracy all of Iron City, GA; his brothers, Bobby Hornsby and his wife Janice of Ashford, AL and Jimmy Hornsby and his wife Juree of Donalsonville, GA; and his sister, Atherlone Trawick and her husband Branda “Jr.”. Mr. Hornsby is also survived by his grandchildren, Judson Hornsby, Will Hornsby and wife Ashlee, Cale Cloud and wife Shelby, Brooke Hornsby, Logan Hornsby, Seth Cloud and wife Alicia, and Kyle Horne and wife Holly; his great grandchildren, Mills and Allee Hornsby, Mason, Preston, and Amzie Hornsby, and Aubree Cloud; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hornsby was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mildred Sanders Hornsby; his wife of 60 years, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Keith Hornsby; and a sister, Lela Davis. In lieu of flower memorial contributions may be made to Seminole County Warpath on Cancer or to the Iron City Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
