George William Wilkerson, age 72, of Blakely, GA, passed away Monday afternoon, April 13, 2026, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.

Funeral services for Mr. Wilkerson will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Chapman and David Houston officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery with Wesley Temples, Ian Robinson, Brian Wilkerson, Matt Merritt, Steven Frith and Dusty Gardener serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the church.

Mr. Wilkerson was born in Lakeland, FL on December 8, 1953, to Jesse Wilkerson and Hazel Love Wilkerson. He was a truck driver and worked with the City of Blakely for 30 years before his retirement. Mr. Wilkerson loved fishing, farming, and horses. Playing guitar and watching Clint Eastwood and John Wayne westerns were favorite pasttimes of Mr. Wilkerson. He was a great yarn-spinner (storyteller) and was of the Baptist faith.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Jeremy Wilkerson (Lisa), Adam Wilkerson (Savannah), and Josh Wilkerson; his siblings, Jesse R. Wilkerson, O’Neal Wilkerson, Earl Wilkerson, Marlene W. Barron, Louie Wilkerson, and Darlene W. Merritt (Alan); as well as his grandchildren, Nicholas Adam Wilkerson and Jacob Wilkerson, along with their mother, Nikki Garner. Also surviving are four step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Hazel Love Wilkerson; his brother, Daniel Wilkerson; and the mother of his children, Karen Hall.
