GWENDOLYN BROOKINS JOINER

Gwendolyn Brookins Joiner, age 91, of Bainbridge, GA and formerly of Iron City, GA passed away Monday evening, June 22, 2020 at Bainbridge Healthcare. Funeral services for Mrs. Joiner will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Oakview Church of God at 2:00 PM with Rev. Gary Walker, Rev. Mylan Brookins, and Rev. Jimmy Walden officiating. Interment will follow at Oakview Church of God cemetery with Damon Trawick, Reggie Trawick, Jeffrey Trawick, Tommy Holt, Herman Brookins, and Anthony Brookins serving as casketbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 PM at the church. Mrs. Joiner was born on August 14, 1928 in Headland, AL to Ranzy and Grace Knight Brookins. After high school she attended cosmetologyschool and was self-employed for some time as a beautician. She was a member of Oakview Church of God and an excellent cook. Mrs. Joiner enjoyed baking, crocheting, taking care of her home, her husband, and her family. Mrs. Joiner and her late husband, Thomas Joiner, have traveled a good bit, driving through every state, except Hawaii and Alaska, but they have visited every state, as well as Canada and Mexico. They especially enjoyed visiting the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Niagara Falls. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Larry Joiner (Julie) of Greenville, GA; her daughter, Casandra Blackmon of Newnan, GA; her sister, Norma Trawick of Iron City, GA; three grandchildren, Joshua Joiner (Brigette), Lauren Ramsey, and Christopher Harris; and five great grandchildren, Jaiden Baum, Grayson Joiner, Kyndall Joiner, Addisyn Harris, and Gracelyn Harris; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Joiner was preceded in death by her parents, Ranzy and Grace Knight Brookins; her husband, Thomas Joiner; a son, Gary Wayne Joiner; five brothers, Herman L. Brookins, Hiram Brookins, Reuben Brookins, L.B. Brookins, and Sam Brookins; and two sisters, Zytell Bush and Wynelle Holt.
