James Franklin “Jim” Cox, Jr., age 61, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Wednesday evening, May 16, 2018 in Bainbridge, GA. Funeral services for Mr. Cox will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 20, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Corey Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Charles McElroy, Troy Easom, Tony Richardson, Kyle Adams, Ross Johnson, and Royce Stewart serving as active casketbearers. Honorary casketbearer will be Scott DePriest. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Flat Creek Baptist Church 1616 Three Notch Road Blakely, GA 39823. Mr. Cox was born in Albany, GA on December 23, 1956 to James Franklin Cox, Sr. and Alice McElroy Cox. He worked as a supervisor in management with Walmart companies. Mr. Cox was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Larue Johnson Cox of Donalsonville, GA; his sons, William Lee and wife Kellie of Dothan, AL and Adam Cox of West Columbia, SC; his daughters, Ashley Powers and Brian of Fitzgerald, GA and Christie Spaeth of Meridian, Idaho; his brother, Edgar Daniel Cox and Lisa of Tifton, GA; as well as his grandchildren, Freya Griffin, Brianna Powers, Jonathyn Powers, and Tanner Cox. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Cox, Sr. and Alice McElroy Cox, as well as his brother, Rick Cox. Arrangements entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
