JoAnn Swanner Skeen

JoAnn Swanner Skeen, age 85, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 17, 2025, at her residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Skeen will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Lane Newberry, Jack Newberry, Michael Skeen, Jeremy Kelley, Greg Whittaker, and Colby Skeen serving as active pallbearers.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM.  

Mrs. Skeen was born in Donalsonville, GA on Sept. 3, 1940, to Fred and Opie Mercer Swanner.  She was a high school graduate and worked for many years as a lab tech, retiring from Birdsong Peanut Company.  Mrs. Skeen was a homemaker and loved to fish and camp, but of utmost importance to her was spending time with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 67 years, Don Skeen of Donalsonville, GA; her children, Mike Skeen and wife Lynn of Moultrie, GA, Nina Kelley and husband Danny of Thomasville, GA, Eric Skeen and wife Carrie of Colquitt, GA, Patsy Skeen of Donalsonville, GA, and Allan Skeen and wife Michelle of Dothan, AL; her sister-in-law, Jackie Skeen of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Skeen was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Opie Mercer Swanner; her siblings, Maurice Swanner and Wyolene Howard; and a grandchild, Brandon Kelley.
