JOHN BROADDUS SIMPSON

October 31, 1941 — May 24, 2023

DONALSONVILLE

John Broaddus Simpson, devoted husband and father, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the age of eighty-one. Mr. Simpson had lived in Seminole County all of his life.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. James Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Cemetery Committee c/o Jan Taylor 200 W. 10th Street, Donalsonville, GA 39845 or to the American Red Cross 1120 W. Broad Ave. Suite A2, Albany, GA 31707.

 

Mr. Simpson was born in Donalsonville, GA on October 31, 1941, to Harry and Colleen Dillon Simpson.  He graduated from Seminole County High School, and after attending Young Harris College and graduating from Mercer University, he served in the National Guard and worked at Commercial State Bank and Burke & Burke.  He then farmed at the Ed Miller Farm for years.  After retiring from farming, he worked at H&R Block.

 

He was a member of the Friendship Methodist Church, Lion’s Club and the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.  Additionally, he served for decades on the Donalsonville Hospital Board and retired from the Seminole County Tax Assessors Board just this year.

 

Broaddus leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kerry Simpson of Donalsonville, GA, and his sons, Rusty Simpson of Donalsonville, GA and Joe-Mike Simpson of Nashville, TN.  He is also survived by his sister, Harriett Pouyadou of Mobile, AL, brother-in-law, Michael Klempf, nieces and nephews Mark Nowell (Susan) of Ozark, AL, Mandy K. Baker of Fairhope, AL, Lynne Wilson (Larry) of Jonesboro, GA, Becky Bush (Tim) of Gainesville, GA, Keith Barber, Kevin Barber, Scott Nowell, David Nowell and several great nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Colleen Dillon Simpson Miller, his fathers, Harry Simpson and Ed Miller, and sister and brother-in-law, Annie Jo and Edward Barber.
