Jon Cosby Moye, 72, passed away at his residence on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Mike Herrin officiating and Cody Anderson giving the eulogy.
Jon Cosby will be fondly remembered for his warm humor, generous spirit, and unmistakable presence in every room he entered. An avid sports fan, he rarely missed a game and took great joy in cheering on his favorite teams, the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. When he wasn’t watching sports, he could often be found enjoying old Westerns and classic television reruns, finding comfort in stories and characters he grew up loving.
He had a remarkable gift for making people laugh, always ready with a good joke, a quick wit, or a perfectly timed story. His ability to bring levity to even the heaviest of days will be deeply missed.
Perhaps one of his most unique talents was his uncanny ability to speak on others’ behalf. Whether delivering heartfelt words at weddings, offering comfort at funerals, or sharing thoughtful reflections in more intimate settings, he had a natural way of capturing emotion and giving voice to what others felt but couldn’t always express.
Jon Cosby leaves behind a legacy of laughter, compassion, and genuine connection—a legacy that will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Donna Gibbons Moye of Donalsonville, GA; his daughters, Brandy Spooner (Ben) of Donalsonville, GA and Ashley Moye (Cody Anderson) of Donalsonville, GA; his grandchildren, Ben Spooner, Jr., Eva Spooner, Emma Spooner, Sydney Spooner, Josie Spooner, Khloe Moye and Isaiah Anderson; his brother, Joe Rosby Moye (Mitzy) of Donalsonville, GA; his sister, Lisa McLaughlin of Donalsonville, GA; and his sister-in-law, Jane Moye.
Jon Cosby was preceded by, his parents, Glynn Moye and Joye Faircloth; his stepmother, Robbie Moye; and his brothers, Carey Moye, Frank Huggins and Jeffrey Harris.
