JUNE MARIE KENT

June Marie Kent, age 76, of Tallahassee, FL, passed  away peacefully on July 3, 2026, in Tallahassee surrounded by the love of her family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 25, 2026 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church Donalsonville, GA, where she was a member, with Rev. Michael Wingertsahn and Rev. Don Chancellor officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of June, donations may be made to the Florida Special Olympics.

Born on September 7, 1949, in Marianna, FL to the late Lucius Kent and Velma Dasinger Kent, June built a life defined by her hard work, warm personality, and loyalty to those she loved.

For over 50 years, June worked as a bookkeeper for small businesses in North Florida and South Georgia.  She wasn’t just skilled with numbers, she was a steady and reliable presence for the clients she served.  Known for being detail-oriented and taking great pride in doing things the right way, she turned colleagues into family and created lifelong friendships along the way.

Outside of work, June brought a lively energy to those around her.  She had a wonderful sense of joy, was deeply devoted to her family and friends, and never turned down a day at the beach. She had a gift for making people feel valued and uniquely special to her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, she is reunited in eternity with her sisters, Shirley Day and Jean Sizemore; niece, Kaye Braswell; nephew, Robert Woodard; and two great-nephews, Christopher Day and Ethan Woodard.

June is survived by her son, Douglas Dawkins, daughter-in-law, Erika, and grandson, Jacob, her absolute pride and joy.  She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Barbara Kirkland Daughton (Jim) and Brenda Woodard (Greg); a large family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; lifelong friends; and her deeply valued work family, Eddie, Paula, and Tyner Cobb.
