Kelly Lois Ann Cross, age 54, of Bascom, Florida, passed away Monday, March 3, 2026, following a lengthy illness.
Kelly was born September 4, 1971, to Darrell and Betty Atwell Cross, in Donalsonville, Georgia. She was a 1989 graduate of Malone High School. Kelly was active in sports, where she played softball and basketball for the Lady Tigers. Kelly grew up playing Little League with the boys because there were no softball games at that time. She was the first girl that we knew of to pitch a game for Bascom Little League. Kelly also loved her Georgia Bulldogs. It was a love she got from her dad, and she could always be seen in a Georgia hat or shirt.
Kelly was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, T.L. "Bud" and Creamer Culverhouse Atwell; her dad, John Darrell Cross and niece Katelyn Cross. She is survived by her mother, Betty Atwell Cross of Bascom, FL; brother, John Robert (Angela) Cross of Malone, FL; niece, Alyssa Cross (Kyle) Loper of Panama City Beach, FL; and a great niece, Baby Loper, due in April; as well as her Aunt Linda (Gus) Griffin of Port St. Joe, FL. A very special friend for over 20 years, Renee Senn of Brundidge, AL, and good friends Scott King and Glen Brown, who have all been wonderful in helping care for Kelly. Kelly had a host of cousins and friends she shared a lot of good memories with.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM CST (3:00 EST) at Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, 2543 Ash Crossing Road, Iron City, GA. Pastor Larry Daughtry will officiate and active pallbearers will be Scott King, Glen Brown, Adam Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Tracy Allen, and Jerry Allen.
