LILLIAN MCCALVIN SMITH

Lillian Gertrude McCalvin Smith, age 86, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Wednesday afternoon, May 5, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Donalsonville Church of God with Rev. Joe Tatum, Rev. Cory Thomas, and Rev. Herman Enfinger officiating. Interment will follow in Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Ronnie Shiver, Ryan Shingler, Wilton Albritton, Tommy McCalvin, Steven Williams, Carlous Chandler, and Brad Cross serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, May 4, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born in Miller County on March 5, 1935 to John Thomas and Leola Long McCalvin. She was the youngest of seven children, a homemaker and faithful member of Donalsonville Church of God. Mrs. Smith was “Ma” to everyone that knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Shirley Alday of Donalsonville, GA and Ricky Smith (Karen) of Iron City, GA; her grandchildren, Nicholas Smith (Kyla), Kyle Smith (Jessica), Dusty Smith (Windi), Mitch Alday (Heather), Mikey Alday (Natalie), Kailee Gardner, and Bradley Gardner; her great grandchildren, Sutton Smith, Summer Smith, Brooke Smith, Malyn Smith, Preston Smith, Julia Smith, Jacob Smith, Josie Alday, Clara Alday, Henry Alday, Josh Roberson, Brianna Roberson, and Chain McMillan; and a brother, Herman McCalvin (Sarah) of Colquitt, GA. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas and Leloa Long McCalvin; her husband, Russell Smith; four sisters, Fanny Mae Evans, Eunice Williams, Irene Chandler, and Myrtle Chandler; a brother, John Roy McCalvin; and her son-in-law, Sambo Alday.
