Linda Faye Rathel

Mrs. Linda Faye Smith Rathel, age 70, of Iron City, GA passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Rathel will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Rollin Rathel and Rev. Jimmy Walden officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Rathel was born in Donalsonville, GA on September 21, 1948 to Duke Smith and Blanche Whitaker Smith. She worked in medical records for Donalsonville Hospital and was a member of Unity Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Minter Rathel of Iron City, GA; her sons, Bill Rathel (Melissa) of Jakin, GA and Jeff Rathel (Sharon) of Bainbridge, GA; her brothers, Edward Smith of Bainbridge, GA and Hayward Smith of Clinton, NC; her sisters, Helen Earnest of Donalsonville, GA, Barbara McDowell (James) of Andalusia, AL and Ginger McDowell of Bainbridge, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cole Rathel, Callie Rathel, Madisen Rathel, Zach Burke (Aby), and Matt Burke; and a great grandchild, Carter Burke. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Maxie Smith; and a sister, Margaret Smith. Arrangements entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
