LUCILLE KIRKLAND

September 16, 1937 — August 21, 2020

Lucille Benton Kirkland, age 82, of Donalsonville, Ga passed away Friday morning, August 21, 2020 at Donalsonville Hospital. Graveside services for Ms. Kirkland will be held on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Scott Messer officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service with Mark Whittaker, Harman McBride, Ricky Alday, Jason Jones, David Sumrall, and Dale Cross serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Ms. Kirkland was born on Sept. 16, 1937 in Donalsonville, GA to Jessie James and Hattie Inez Smith Benton. She was a lab tech for 30 plus years with Amoco Fabrics before her retirement. Ms. Kirkland loved working with her plants, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, and she loved the beach. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Steve Kirkland (Erin) of Cairo, GA, Gail Murkerson (Ronnie) of Colquitt, GA, and Paul Kirkland (Tracey) of Donalsonville, GA; her sisters, Betty Whittaker of Donalsonville, GA, Hazel Jones and husband Billy of Colquitt, GA, Sarah Shirley of Milton, FL, and Patsy Jones of Donalsonville, GA; and a sister-in-law, Vickie Staab of Sebastian, FL. Ms. Kirkland is also survived by her grandchildren, Isaac Bush (April), Stephen Kirkland, Sydney Kirkland, Emily Kirkland, Gracie Kirkland, and Eve Kirkland, as well as a great grandchild, Taylor Bush. Ms. Kirkland was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie James and Hattie Inez Smith Benton; a brother, James Benton; and a son-in-law, Ike Bush.
