Marcus "Mark" Wayne Brookins

Marcus Wayne Brookins (Mark), age 62, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Donalsonville Hospital. A memorial service will be held on January 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, near Malone, FL, with the Pastor Danny Summerlin and Brother Edward Ham officiating. Mark was born on November 22, 1959, on his maternal grandmother’s birthday at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama to Charles (Duane) and Vernell Hinson Brookins. Watching westerns on tv was his favorite pastime. Even though he never had children of his own, he had a soft spot for children who. They always brought a smile to his face. He enjoyed driving a tractor and worked for several farmers. Mark spent almost his entire life in Jackson County, Florida. He leaves to cherish his memories, his brother, David (Brenda) Brookins, Morganton, GA, his niece, Natalie “Nikki” (Travis) Martin, Morganton, GA and nephews, Barry (Meredith) Brookins, Tuscaloosa, AL and Travis Brookins, North Redington Beach, FL Also surviving are his “Rugrats”, Conrad and Grayson Brookins and Tanner Martin. His Aunts, aka “Thelma and Louise,” Barbara Dale (WJ) Deese, Cottonwood, AL and Mae Jackson, Dothan, AL, who spent many hours the last years visiting and helping him especially after he went on dialysis. Gurtha Murphy, and his uncle, Curtis Ladon (Sandra) Hinson, along with many cousins. Mark was proceeded in death by his father, Charles Duane Brookins, his mother, Vernell Hinson Brookins and his brother Ray. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Friendship Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
