MARGARET PICKREN GOWAN SMITH

November 4, 1933 — June 17, 2024

COLQUITT

Margaret Pickren Gowan Smith, age 90, of Colquitt, GA, passed away Monday morning, June 17, 2024, at her residence.

 Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Centerville United Methodist Church Cemetery with Patrick Vickers, Dalton Gowan, Brenton Holland, Jacob Poe, Cade Vickers, and Gage Teal serving as active casketbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service, at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

 Mrs. Smith was born in Blakely, GA on Nov. 4, 1933, to Pryor L. Pickren and Chloe Bush Pickren. She was a homemaker and member of New Hope Worship Assembly. Mrs. Smith loved flowers and gardening, but she especially loved to spend time cooking and being with her family. Family was very important to Mrs. Margaret, and she loved hers dearly.

 She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Steve and wife Elaine Gowan of Colquitt, GA and Sammy Gowan of Colquitt, GA; her daughters, Sue Gowan Mixson of Eufaula, AL and Cheryl Holland and husband Bruce of Seneca, SC; and her siblings, Alene Pickren Davis of Weaverville, NC, Royce Pickren and wife Elaine Amerson Pickren of Donalsonville, GA, and Carolyn Pickren Bean of Atlanta, GA. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Karen Gowan and Brian Pringle, Dave and Heather Gowan, Michelle Vickers, Patrick Vickers, Renee Holland, Brenton Holland, Kelley and Jacob Poe, and Dalton Gowan; as well as her great grandchildren, Cade, Mason, and Miller Vickers, Gage Teal, Brayden, Braxton, and Brooklyn Pringle; Makenzie Cox and Kyleigh Gowan; and Kaden and Carson Poe.

 Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Pryor L. Pickren and Chloe Bush Pickren; her husbands, James A. Gowan and William T. Smith; five brothers, Vernon Pickren, C.A. Pickren, Jerry Pickren, John Pickren, and Kenneth Pickren; and her son, David Wayne Gowan.
