MARIE RIDLEHOOVER SPOONER

September 29, 1921 — November 28, 2020

Marie Estelle Ridlehoover Spooner, age 99, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 28, 2020 at Donalsonville Hospital. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Spooner will be held on Sunday, Dec.6, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Dr. Raymond Guterman officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service. We ask that all those attending please wear a mask and practice safe social distancing. Mrs. Spooner was born in Miller County, GA on September 29, 1921 to Coke and Annie Mae Harrell Ridlehoover. She worked for many years in retail sales with Dot and Nez Fashions. Mrs. Spooner’s favorite hobby was fishing, and she had enjoyed being a past member of the Donalsonville Garden Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church Donalsonville where she was the oldest living member. Mrs. Spooner was a member of the Pure Gold/Dorcas-Ruth Sunday School Class, as well as a member of the Merry Makers. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Pat Shoemaker and husband Larry of Donalsonville, GA, Charles Spooner and wife Deborah of Jacksonville, FL, and Leonard “Skip” Spooner of Greenville, SC; a sister-in-law, Kathy Ridlehoover of Tallahassee, FL; her grandchildren, Marla Spooner Neise and husband Kevin of Gainesville, GA, Charles G. “Chuck” Spooner, Jr. and wife Laura of Smyrna, GA, Brian Shoemaker and wife Natalie of Brisbine, Australia, Chad Shoemaker and wife LaKrecia of Lakeland, FL, and Casey Spooner of Hollywood, CA. Mrs. Spooner is also survived by her great grandchildren, Emma Shoemaker and Matthew Shoemaker of Brisbine, Australia, Colin Shoemaker and Kaitlyn Marie Shoemaker of Lakeland, FL, Alan Troutman and wife Bobbie of Smyrna, GA, Krista Troutman Wolf and husband Josh of Douglasville, GA, and Kyle Troutman and wife Shannon of Gainesville, GA; her great great grandchildren, Liam Troutman and Kayden Troutman of Gainesville, GA and Charlie Wolf and Victoria Wolf of Douglasville, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Spooner was preceded in death by her parents, Coke and Annie Mae Harrell Ridlehoover; her husband, Joseph Colquitt (Carl) Spooner; and her brother, Wendell Ridlehoover.
