RAYMOND SMITH, JR.

Raymond Smith, Jr., age 65, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 19, 2023, at his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 22, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyt Donley officiating.  Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery located in Faceville, GA with Clint Griffin, Don Durr, Danny Jordan, David Propes, Mark Herring, and Frank Godwin serving as active pallbearers.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ricky McCall and Greg Brown.  Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, October 21, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Seminole County War Path on Cancer, 200 W. 10^th Street, Donalsonville, GA 39845.

Mr. Smith was born in Colquitt, GA on July 3, 1958, to Raymond Smith and Pauline Johnson Smith.  He worked for many years at Propex Fabrics in Bainbridge, GA and then at BASF in Attapulgus, GA.  He loved spending time with his family and hunting and fishing were his favorite pasttimes. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Carol Smith of Donalsonville, GA; his children, Travis Taylor and Caity of Hazlehurst, GA, Rene Smith of Donalsonville, GA, and Brantley Smith of Blakely, GA; his grandchildren, Aurie, Rhett, Christopher, and Avie Taylor; his brothers, Marshall Smith, David Smith, James Smith, and Carl Smith all of Bainbridge, GA; and his brother-in-law, Richard Bergeron of Bainbridge, GA.  Also surviving are special friends, Bobby and Jane Thompson and Lacey Cheshire all of Donalsonville, GA, as well as his grand-dogs, Coal and Missi.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Smith and Pauline Johnson Smith and his sister, Lynda Bergeron.
