REV. GERALD STANLEY (STAN) LONG

Rev. Gerald Stanley (Stan) Long, age 66, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Saturday morning, July 3, 2021 at the home of his son. Funeral services for Rev. Long will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Donalsonville Church of God with Rev. Mylan Brookins and Administrative Bishop Gary Lewis officiating with words from Rev. Long’s daughter, Rev. Shara Horne. Interment will be in the Oakview Church of God Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Kirkland, Rev. Gary Walker, and Rev. Jeff Horne officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Drew Thompson, Andrew Horne, Isaac Long and Elijah Horne along with Stanley Beckham and Wilton Albritton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Rev. Long was born on January 4, 1955 in Donalsonville to Wilmon Gerald Long and Aileen Moss Long. He was a 1973 graduate of Seminole County High School. He served as pastor in the Church of God for nearly 40 years pastoring in Brinson, GA, Dawson, GA, Silver Creek, MS, St. Mary’s, GA, Lake Park (Echols County), GA, Donalsonville, GA and Alma, GA. While pastoring, he earned a CIMS (Certificate in Ministerial Studies) degree through the Church of God. He was an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God. Many lives have been touched by his ministry – preaching the Word was his life. He retired from pastoring on May 23, 2021 from the New Lacy Church of God in Alma, GA after being diagnosed with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of almost 47 years Rebecca (Becky) Hill Long; his children, Shara Long Horne and her husband Jeff of Jakin, GA and Jason Stanley Long and his wife Tiffany of Donalsonville. He is also survived by his grandsons, Andrew Horne, Elijah Horne, Drew Thompson (Ansley) and Isaac Long. Rev. Long was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Aileen Long and his brother, Ken.
