Roger Ashley Rykard, age 71, of Iron City, GA passed away Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 1, 2021 at his residence. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021 at 5:00 PM at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Jimmy Walden officiating. Interment will follow the service with Allen Givens, Andy Givens, Hudson Givens, Landon Givens, Ronnie McAllister, and Luke Spooner serving as active pallbearers. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines. Mr. Rykard was born in Valdosta, GA on July 24, 1950 to Carl A. Rykard and Virginia H. Rykard. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of Unity Church of God. He retired from Farley Nuclear Plant in 2016, after working for 40+ years as a supervisor for electrical planning. Mr. Rykard was an avid ultralight pilot and a member of the original Lake Seminole Ski Club. He loved spending time with his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Wanda Givens Rykard of Iron City, GA; his sons, Ashley Rykard and wife Shona of Donalsonville, GA and Adam Rykard and wife Haley of Iron City, GA; his grandchildren, Blake Rykard of Donalsonville, GA and Hattie Rykard of Iron City, GA; and his brother, Ronnie Rykard of Iron City, GA. Mr. Rykard was preceded in death by his parents, Carl A. and Virginia H. Rykard and his sister, Leslie Ann Clayton.
