Roy Bateman

Rev. Roy B Bateman, Sr., age 86, of Blairsville, Ga, went to be with his Lord on Thursday afternoon, May 1, 2025.

Mr. Bateman was born in Wise County, VA, on September 7, 1938, to late A.D. and Thelma Bateman. He is one of the oldest of seven boys and five girls. He was retired from the United States Navy where he served as an E-4 Corpsman. In 1972, he was called into the ministry and attended Baptist University of a Florida (Baptist Bible Institute) in Graceville, Fl where he received his Masters in Ministry and Music. He served The Lord through Ministry for over 50 years guiding and counseling many. He has preformed many marriages for family and friends, and will always be remembered for his kind words and encouragement by all who crossed his path. Through his life he enjoyed numerous things like traveling, camping with friends, FSU Football, and especially spending time with family and friends.

He will be remembered by all who knew him, but especially by his family: His Loving Wife Shirley, Teresa (Michael) Loebenberg, Roy(Jimmy) Kim Bateman, Beverly (Carlos) Norris, Claudia(Jimmie) Richardson, Pam Harris, Kevin (Anita) Hoy, Kent Hoy, and the late Alex Collins and Paula Harris. Also, his brothers, Richard (Donna) Bateman and Lee (Lucinda) Bateman and sister Evelyn (Bob) Campbell. Along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His memory will live on in their hearts and will never be forgotten.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Blairsville Ga at 3 PM, Monday, May 5, 2025. Visitation will be held from 2-3 PM. He will have a graveside service in Donalsonville Ga at 2 PM, May 7, 2025 at Friendship Memorial Gardens.
