SANDRA (SUSIE) SPOONER SHINGLER

April 26, 1946 — August 10, 2022

Sandra "Susie" Spooner Shingler, 76, of Donalsonville, Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Columbus Specialty Hospital. Graveside services will be held at Friendship Cemetery on Saturday, August 13 at 11:00 AM with Rev. William Smith and Rev. Wade Spooner officiating. Pallbearers are Rob Weir, Ty Weir, Colby Shingler, Jim Shingler, Billy Shingler, and Mark Spooner. Honorary pallbearers are the cast and crew of Swamp Gravy and the Seminole County Retired Teachers. Visitation will be held at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 12 from 6 to 8 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Swamp Gravy, a 501c3 non-profit, PO Box 567 Colquitt, GA 39837. Susie was born on April 26, 1946 to Vada Chance Spooner and Denver Spooner. She attended Seminole County Schools and at the age of 40 she began college completing her degree in Early Education. Susie retired from teaching Pre-K in 2012 from Seminole County Elementary School. She also volunteered, sewed, and performed for 23 years in Swamp Gravy and many other shows at Cotton Hall in Colquitt, Georgia. Susie loved to perform, entertain and be with her friends and family. Susie met the love of her life at the age of 13 and later married Marty Shingler on August 20, 1965. Susie and Marty were baptized together into the Baptist Faith at the First Baptist Church in Donalsonville. Susie's memory and stories will be carried on by her surviving family, H.M. "Marty" Shingler, Michelle (Greg) Everett of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Martin (Shanna) Shingler of Jesup, Georgia, and Celia (Sam) Weir of Donalsonville, Georgia. Her grandchildren, Colby (Erin) Shingler of Jesup, Georgia, Sara Beth Shingler of Brunswick, Georgia, Rob Weir and Ty Weir, both of Donalsonville, Georgia; and her sisters, Jane Lee of Cumming, Georgia and Nan (Calvin) Floyd of Cusseta, Georgia. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ray Spooner and Albert Spooner, her sister Clarice Tyler, and her great grandchild, Ellie Anna Shingler.
