THELMA O'HEARN

October 25, 1928 — January 2, 2020

Mrs. Thelma McMickle O’Hearn, age 91 of Donalsonville, GA passed away Thursday morning, January 2, 2020 at her residence. She was affectionately called “Miss Thelma” in her community where she openly proclaimed her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family, her church, and for the Seminole County Senior Center where she has regularly attended since early 1995. Funeral services for Miss Thelma will be held at her home church, South Mt. Zion Church of God, on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 3:00 PM with Rev. John Calhoun, and Rev. Byron Griffis officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery with her grandsons, Christopher Hurst, Brad Clenney, Beau Clenney, Reid O’Hearn, Rylan O’Hearn, and nephew, Allen Givens serving as casketbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 2:00 PM at the church. Miss Thelma was born in Iron City, GA on October 25, 1928 to Doctor Rufus and Hannah Gooding McMickle. She attended school in Miller County until her marriage in 1946 to the love of her life, Ralph L. O’Hearn. She was a seamstress by trade and worked alongside her husband as they built the family farm together. Miss Thelma was full of “spunk” and always had a quick wit about her that made her and people around laugh and enjoy life together.   She leaves to cherish her memory, her four children, Sondra Hurst (Chris) of Sasser, GA; Sharon Chafin (Joe) of McDonough, GA; Joy Clenney (Phil) of Blakely, GA; Ricky O’Hearn (Brenda) of Donalsonville, GA. Her grandchildren are Christopher Hurst, Jennifer Hurst, Patti Wright, Brad Clenney, Beau Clenney, Reid O’Hearn, and Rylan O’Hearn. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren and her sister, Marilyn Davis of Valdosta, GA; and her sister-in-law, Laverne McMickle of Donalsonville, GA. Miss Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, W.T. McMickle, David McMickle, and Carey McMickle, and one sister, Irene McCrory. Flower are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to South Mt. Zion Church of God, 696 Mayhaw Road, Colquitt, GA 39837 or the Seminole County Senior Center, 403 South Wiley Ave. Donalsonville, GA 39845. The family would especially like to thank Miss Thelma’s wonderful, faithful, caring sitters, Mary Powell, Evelyn Register, and Toni Dunlap. Arrangements entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
