Vinson Harold Evans, age 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Evans will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery with Jerry Houston, Jackie Frith, Phil Buckhaulter, Bubba Weeks, Greg Gaughan, and Mal Freeman serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Bethel Cemetery Fund c/o Springfield Baptist Church 6677 Hwy 39 Jakin, GA 39861 or to Gideon's International PO Box 140800 Nashville, TN 37214-0800.
Vinson was born in Jakin, GA on July 16, 1934, to the late Nathan Elzie Evans and Evie Jane Pyle Evans. He graduated from Jakin High School. Mr. Evans had a love for his church family, farming, cows, and horses. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Janice; two sons, Hunter (Paige) Evans and Kent (Martha) Evans; his grandchildren, Mackenzie (Jack) Hattaway, Betsy Lucas, Priscilla Evans, April McGill, Christian McGill, and Courtney Maddox; as well as a great granddaughter, Jade Hattaway.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Elzie Evans and Evie Jane Pyle Evans; his brother, Everett Evans; and his sister, Thelma Houston.
