Winfred L. Taylor, age 91, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Sunday evening, June 25, 2023, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Johns and Rev. Sterling Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James Burch, Patrick Burch, Alton Harrison, Terrell Harrison, Trent Harrison, Michael Hagler, and Charles Brackin serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at Flat Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Taylor was born in Blakely, GA on October 8, 1931, to Rufus Taylor and Wilma Berry Harrison. He served his country in the United States Army and retired after 35 years of service to GA Pacific in the Advanced Security Department. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church; he was a true family man who loved his children; however, his grandchildren and great grandchildren had a special place in his heart. Mr. Taylor loved his country and enjoyed gardening and raising chickens.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Bruce Taylor and his wife Amy; his grandchildren, Ray Taylor and Tori and Zac Taylor and Amber; and his great grandchildren, Cooper Frank, Lila Frank, Lil Ray Taylor, Lanie Taylor, Adley Taylor, and Layton Taylor. He is also survived by his siblings, Harry “Pete” Harrison, Jannell Yates-King, Charlene Pritchett, Laverne Duke, Edna Hagler, Elaine Zimmer, Joann Gantt, Delora Wells-Myers, Janice Brunson, and Bernice Bridges; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Taylor and Wilma Berry Harrison; his wife, Sarah Johnson Taylor; as well as four siblings, William Don Harrison, Noma Harrison, Terry Harrison, and Dennis Harrison.
